These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between Layers Of Awakening ("Layers Of Awakening", "we", "us") and you, the person using www.layers-of-awakening.com (the "Site"). By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. What the Site is

Layers Of Awakening is a YouTube channel where Erie, a fictional guide, explains timeless public-domain books in a light, modern way. The first book is A Course in Miracles. The Site hosts the channel's videos, transcripts, and related pages, and an AI feature called Erie's Companion. Nothing on the Site is for sale at this time. If we add paid features, we will post separate terms for them before you can buy.

2. Erie is fictional; synthetic media

Erie is a fictional character. Her image and voice are generated with artificial intelligence and are not a recording of a real person. Every script Erie speaks is written and approved by a human before it is recorded. Videos on YouTube carry YouTube's altered or synthetic content label. 3. Educational content only; no advice

The Site and the channel explain books. They are educational and for general information. They are not therapy, counselling, medical, psychological, legal, financial or religious advice, and they do not diagnose or treat any condition. Erie's Companion produces automated text and may be wrong. If you are in distress, please contact a qualified professional.

4. Erie's Companion

Erie's Companion lets you type a short text and receive an automated reply drawn from the channel's own material. There is no account and we do not store what you type; your text is sent to a third-party AI provider to generate the reply and is handled as described in our Privacy Policy. Do not enter personal information about yourself or anyone else, or anything confidential. You may not use the feature to generate unlawful, harassing or infringing content, or to probe, overload or reverse-engineer it. We may change, limit or remove the feature at any time.

5. Intellectual property

Erie's scripts, the videos, thumbnails, artwork, the Erie character, the name Layers Of Awakening™ and the Site's design are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may watch, share links to, and quote short excerpts of our material for personal, non-commercial purposes with attribution. You may not copy, re-upload, re-voice, train an AI model on, or create derivative works from Erie's image, voice or scripts without our written permission.

A Course in Miracles: we quote only the 1975 edition of A Course in Miracles that we understand to be in the public domain in the United States. We claim no rights in that text. Later, edited editions of the Course are published by others and are not used here. Layers Of Awakening is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any book publisher.

6. Third-party sites and affiliate links

The Site links to YouTube and other third-party sites, and embeds YouTube videos. Those sites have their own terms and privacy practices, which we do not control. Some links are affiliate links; if you buy through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. See our Affiliate Disclosure.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to: interfere with the Site's operation; scrape or bulk-download the Site other than through the files we publish for that purpose (for example llms.txt); misrepresent your affiliation with us; send spam, bulk or automated submissions through the contact form; or use the Site in violation of any law. We may restrict access to anyone who breaks these rules.

8. Copyright complaints

If you believe material on the Site infringes your copyright, send a notice under 17 U.S.C. § 512 to hello@layers-of-awakening.com with the subject line "Copyright notice", identifying the work, the material on our Site, your contact details, a statement of good-faith belief, a statement under penalty of perjury that you are authorised to act, and your signature.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and we do not promise that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free or accurate.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we and our officers, contractors and licensors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, goodwill or profits, arising from your use of the Site. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars (US $100) or, if you have paid us for a feature, the amount you paid in the twelve months before the claim, whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits; in those places they apply to the extent permitted.

11. Indemnity

You will defend and hold us harmless from claims and costs, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Site.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing any claim, you agree to write to hello@layers-of-awakening.com and give us thirty days to resolve it informally. Any claim not resolved will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Bergen County, New Jersey, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing in this section limits rights that cannot be waived under the law of your home country or state.

13. Changes; assignment; entire agreement

We may update these Terms; the effective date at the top changes when we do, and continued use after that date is acceptance. We may assign these Terms to a successor entity that takes over Layers Of Awakening. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, the Affiliate Disclosure and the AI Disclosure are the entire agreement between us about the Site.
